Connecting a Solar Panels System Together, Requirements
<< Continue from previous page
Introduction
Now is time to plan how many solar panels will need to power a house a factory or a complete village or town, and to calculate the system elements to make this possible.
Commercial solar panels are sold as a power building modules that can be connected together, in principle with no limit to obtain a desirable power level. As established before they are made of different materials with their respective advantages and disadvantages.
Commercial solar panels are sold in different sizes, power and voltage ratings, until now there is no an unified standard for these parameters, their size varies in length from few inches to more than 58 and widths from eight to 33 inches, nominal open circuit voltages can varies from 16.5 to 98 volts or more, and for power we can find five to 200 watts modules and prices from $65 to a $1000 US dollars or more.
All these choices and variations in size, voltage, power rating and pricing could be an advantage for the original designer of the system since it permits to customize each system to the exact power and budget requirements, but also it could be a nightmare if a replacement for the original would be necessary and turned out that the original size is not available, for sake of peace of mind could be good idea to keep some spare panels, for a home system only one or two could be sufficient.
Calculating You Project Power Needs in Watt-
1-
The first thing to do is to calculate how much energy will be used in our house or project, make a table of the average power requirement for each machine or device and for the time expected to be turned on
Example:
